The camping “In Gouden Plakje” is situated near Gaastmeer and one of Friesland's most well-known nature territories, It Heidenskip. It Heidenskip is the territory, that lies north of the old sleepdike (Alde dyk) between Workum and Koudum . It is shut in by the Vliet , the Zandmeer , Gaastmeer , Yntemafeart and, the Fluessen.

The surroundings are very suitable to enjoy serenity and nature. The camping's unique location offers a perfect opportunity to sail for example to Heeg with one of our rental boots. By bike you are in short distance from beautiful places that Friesland offers. What do you think of the authentic history of Workum and the rich history of Hindelopen. The bicycle-ferry between Gaastmeer and it Heidenskip makes it possible to make nice bicycle tours around Friesland's lakes and landscape.


Gaastmeer
Approximately 3 km. away is the little village Gaastmeer situated. The village Gaastmeer (municipality Wymbritseradiel) inhabits about 300 people and there is a little supermarket, restaurant, snackbar etc. Gaastmeer is uniquely central situated in the Fries Lakedistrict.


Oudega W
Approximately 6 km. away you find the village Oudega (W.) that is situated at the Oudegaaster Brekken. That's why Oudega is one of the five most wellknown watersportplaces in the municipality Wymbritseradiel. There are also bicycle-routes possible via this village, e.g. through the Fries meadows or along the Oudegaaster Brekken and the Doris mill.


Heeg
The nice little village Heeg is 8 km. away. Heeg has about 2000 inhabitants and is a wellknown village for the watersporters, also by its location at the Heeger-lake and the Fluessen. Heeg offers a lot more, such as nice restaurants and other opportunities to have an entertaining evening.


Workum
The city of Workum is situated in the south-west corner from Friesland and is one of the olest cities in the county. Workum offers a lot for everyone: The Jopie Huisman museum, nice terraces and much more. You can enjoy the beautiful paintings from the oldiron and churlish merchant Jopie Huisman, but there is also a museum, where you can get acquainted with the rich history of Workum and a walk through the old center is an experience by itself. The many splendid monuments and facades stand in like next to each other. Workum is situated at the IJsselmeer and Friesland's lakes. It is one of Friesland's 11 cities.


Hindeloopen
Hindeloopen is especially known for the old narrow streets; the nice views, the typical wooden bridges, characteristic facades and painting studios. At the old fisher harbour you find enough nice bars and restaurants. In Hindeloopen you find 2 museums; the Hidde Nijland and the Fries Skating Museum. This should not be missed by you!


Sneek
Sneek is approximately 18 km. away form the camping. It has many interesting buildings like the symbol of Sneek “The Watergate”. But also the town hall and Epemastate in Ysbrechtum is worth visiting. In this nice city with its beautiful center you have the opportunity for a day shopping. Sneek (approximately 33.000 inhabitants) is also the starting point to explore the region. Here you find excellent food in the many restaurants. During the Sneekweek (1ste week of August) many people visit the city.
